How can you successfully change careers or make a big change?

What should you focus on for your personal and professional development?

I’ve worked with professionals seeking practical advice on how to navigate new positions in their career and the challenges that these changes can bring. My approach is to marry an understanding of the big picture with actionable steps — using research-backed methodology for helping you achieve your goals. My personalized program identifies and builds on your strengths as a starting point for action. ow

Where do you turn when you need expertise for a professional project?

I offer my expertise as a consultant in both education and business spaces.

  • I work with companies to lead projects from end to end, taking great care with all the details and communication necessary to make the project a success.

  • I work with companies as both a learning consultant and trainer. I offer support to teams, large-group trainings, and 1:1 mentoring and coaching.

  • I help companies navigate change by working with individuals and teams to adopt new programs and practices. I also support leadership teams in creating sustainable change that lasts beyond our work together.

As a consultant to Science House, a business consulting firm, I work to share my expertise in communication and marketing strategies, working to build a new business called Power Pairs.

I’ve crafted business pitches, acted as copy editor for both internal and external communication plans, and collaborated with a web designer to create the marketing plan for a new business venture.

In this education consulting project, I provided operational support for the design & implementation of learning programs and instructional practices with the Frankfort-Schuyler school district in upstate New York. Notably, through 1:1 coaching sessions, I created and implemented 5 key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring clients’ growth. After 7 weekly sessions, my client saw 80% growth in these KPIs.

In the summer of 2020, I worked with a team of school leaders at Saint James School in Montgomery, Alabama to deliver training on anti-bias, anti-racist teaching, using a professional development curriculum I authored and first piloted with a group of educators in New York City.

How do you communicate your written ideas clearly, and with impact?

I’ve been writing professionally for my entire career: both academically and in the workspace. I have experience crafting curriculum, as well as internal and external communication plans. I’ve worked on marketing projects as both an copy editor and author, where I both wrote articles, newsletters, and blog posts.

  • While consulting with Power Pairs, I wrote, edited, and published posts to share on both the company’s website and LinkedIn.

    Read an example here.

I also worked with our web designer to turn the most important ideas from each blog post into graphic content (via carousels) for social media.

  • After traveling to Germany with the Transatlantic Outreach Program with the Goethe-Institut, I wrote a lesson plan for elementary students to learn more about the Holocaust.

My lesson plan was published in the organization’s lesson plan magazine, which is distributed to educators all over the U.S. and Canada.

    Read the lesson plan here.

  • On my substack, I explore topics related to identity, work, change, and personal transformation.

How can you engage an audience (whether it’s a team or large group) when presenting your ideas? What makes someone an effective speaker?

I took the mic from a young age – speaking in front of crowds through extracurriculars and at my school. Over the years, I’ve refined my public speaking and presenting skills, becoming adept at engaging all types of audiences.

I have experience leading training for organizations, presenting at academic conferences, and speaking at professional conferences, both as a lead presenter and a panelist.

Presenting a workshop at the 2022 Annual Conference for the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).

Speaking on a panel of educators in Germany.

How can you help your student thrive, both at home and at school?

I’m a former teacher and school leader with 10+ years experience working in schools. I work with individual students and their families to create an optimal at-home learning plan so they feel successful both at home and at school.

  • I work with qualified educators to bring their expertise to 1:1 sessions with your student.

Tutoring specialties include the following areas:

    • reading

    • writing

    • phonics/grammar

    • project-based learning

    • executive functioning coaching

  • I also work with families who want to make an effective at-home learning plan and routine for their kids. In each session, I help families create practical routines that enrich their kids’ learning and growth.

    Outcomes include:

    • recommendations for strengthening your student’s executive functioning skills

    • a personalized at-home learning plan, depending on your student’s age and academic needs

    • a written report with practical next steps
